Research

While an economist by training, I regard myself as a social scientist in the broadest of senses. I have never felt comfortable staying within the classical "subfields" of economics, and do not feel any more comfortable restricting my social thinking to areas that are classically considered to be part of economics. While I do appreciate the need for specialization, I am certain that the current lines between disciplines and sub-disciplines will not survive. In the meantime, I find myself drawn to the search for insight in a wide variety of different areas of social thought. There are some intuitive principles guiding my choice of research topic, but they are far too subtle for me to describe or even to discern with any accuracy.
